About Steam Pig
Steam Pig is an independent site that helps you choose a backyard smoker. We put electric, charcoal, offset and propane models side by side and explain the differences in plain words.
You don't need barbecue-competition vocabulary to read it. We explain the terms that matter, like offset, bullet and dual fuel, as we go.
What we cover
Our guides cover electric smokers, charcoal and offset smokers, propane and dual-fuel smokers, and smoker and grill combos. We also cover the wood, charcoal, thermometers and cleaning help that go with them.
You'll find picks by type, fuel matchups, model comparisons and short how-to guides. New pages are added over time.
How we work
For every smoker we cover, we read the specs, the features and the maker's own details. We also look at what buyers often say after they've set one up.
Then we turn that into clear picks and honest trade-offs. Our How we research page explains the method.
What we are not
Steam Pig is not a store, and we don't make or sell smokers. No brand pays us to rank its products.
We aren't affiliated with Masterbuilt, Weber, Dyna-Glo, Oklahoma Joe's, East Oak or any other maker. We also don't claim to have tested every smoker ourselves.
How we earn money
Some links on this site go to stores like Amazon. If you buy through one, we may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you.
That never changes which smokers we pick. Our affiliate disclosure has the details.
